At SoulSpeak last month, one of the women pulled that story prompt out of the bowl. “Tell us a time you felt like you couldn’t use your voice.” She shared that she felt like a strong and powerful woman. She spoke what was on her mind and heart frequently and didn’t feel like she often lost her voice. And yet, one night after going out on a date with a man, she agreed to go home with him. Halfway home, she realized, she didn’t actually want to go through with it. But she had already agreed and she couldn’t find the words to say she didn’t.
She felt stuck. She kept going.
So many women around the table had similar experiences and they are not alone. I hear this from clients and I know I have lived that experience before, too.
I called up Rachael Maddox to have a clear + candid conversation about what’s really happening for women with their voices when it comes to sex and saying “yes” or “no”. Rachael is a trauma resolution educator and healer who is all kinds of powerful.
On this recording, you’ll hear:
– why everyone has trauma based on this definition
– the definition of a secret bad girl
– why trauma resolution is essential for belonging (and all of our relationships)
– Rachael’s next book on sex after trauma
– A juicy, juicy exercise to try on your YES and Your NO.
