“It is what we are humbly asked to do, if we are to know what it means to be alive: to tell the story of our suffering through our blindness, over and over, until it reveals its secret melody.” – Mark Nepo
There have been years where I cried over and over about how a relationship didn’t fit. I went to therapy. We changed things and worked on communication (which was an amazing experience, thank you Imago Therapy), but we were suffering. We weren’t fitting and I couldn’t see. In the suffering, in the pain of trying to twist and turn each other, the melody was revealed. A twisted, breaking tune that hurt my heart and caused swift, immense change. I knew that the melody of the breaking reopened me to myself, to the strong anchor in the middle. Tell the story, as long as you need, as many times as you need until you can hear the melody you are meant to hear. Tell the story of suffering through blindness. Your life is happening right now. Where are you suffering? Where do you feel blind?
To a world where we can hear all the melodies we need,
JESS
These Soulful Sunday blogs go out weekly on Sundays to be used as a place to step back from the hustle and bustle and explore what your soul might be saying to you. Some folks use these as journal prompts and let loose amidst pages. Some folks bring them to the kitchen table and jam over coffee. Do you, boo.
