“Rather than wandering around in problem-solving mode all day, thinking mainly of what you want to fix about yourself or your life, you can pause for a few moments throughout the day to marvel at what’s not broken. You.”
― Kristin Neff, Self-Compassion: Stop Beating Yourself Up and Leave Insecurity Behind
YOU, MY DEAR ONE, ARE NOT BROKEN. YOU ARE ARE AN AMAZING BEING WALKING IN THIS WORLD IN THIS MOMENT. CAN WE MARVEL FOR ONE HOT SECOND PLEASE!?!? Y’all, I try not to write in caps on Sundays. Editors tell me that it doesn’t come off well. I know, I know. But if we’ve ever met, you know that I speak in capslock. I’m loud about my joy. It feels better to keep it in caps and with lots of !!!!!. And the joy of you, the miracle of you, makes me wanna just SHOUT on street corners. THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE IN THIS MOMENT WITH ME!!! True confession: I’ve already had coffee this morning and now I’m writing. Coffee really helps with the whole joy thing.
And this other part of me, the soft tender side, wants to sit next to you. It wants to look deep into your eyes and listen to all the things you want to share. Your wisdom, your jagged edges, the grief of your desires that have been crushed or buried. I want to see your eyes change color as the tears arise and the calm rolls through. The calm that comes from being seen. Then I want to join you to fan the fires of your creativity, of your sexuality, of your living breathing body and all that is to come.
You, my dear, are remarkably amazingly gorgeous in your wholeness. Bring it all here.
MANTRA: May I marvel at my WHOLE self.
JOURNAL: What feels broken or needs acknowledgement? What needs tenderness to be seen? What part of you is feeling joy and wanting to express it? Give yourself some love.
These Soulful Sunday blogs go out weekly on Sundays to be used as a place to step back from the hustle and bustle and explore what your soul might be saying to you. Some folks use these as journal prompts and let loose amidst pages. Some folks bring them to the kitchen table and jam over coffee. Do you, boo.
