I can and I can't

The Magic of “I CAN” (plus a gift!)

March 15, 2016Jessica Leigh LyonsUncategorizedNo comments

Whether you believe you can or you can’t – you’re right.

– Henry Ford

In my circles with women, I’m hearing big debates + deep desires. There’s a wanting of something + a not knowing if it can be had.
Can I be worthy of what I desire and still not believe it exists?
We could enter a philosophical debate.
But I don’t see the value in going back-and-forth. Is it possible that you are worthy of what you desire + still not believe it exists?
You’re worthy of the man, the money, heck, you’re worthy of unicorns if you want them.  The unicorns might take some serious imagination, but my Instagram feed seems to be full of them these days.
Here’s what I know to be true for myself:
Believing that my desire IS possible = hope + joy + a direction. I wake up smiling. I answer the phone by singing. I spread my arms wide + tackle projects with gusto.
Believing that I can’t have what I want FOR WHATEVER REASON sends me straight into the pits of despair. I’m depressed. I lay in bed for an hour after the alarm goes off, convincing myself that getting out of bed is a good + productive idea.
Personally, I’ve seen the power of choosing what I desire with vigor + joy. That doesn’t  mean it happens the very next day (hello, years in business). That doesn’t mean I met the man of my dreams tripping onto the bus. It means I got clear on what I wanted + then I had the guts to say YES to things that lit me up + NO to anything that was sucking my soul.
I stick with hope. Even if I can’t have the man/the apartment/ the travel right this second, I choose to believe that it’s possible. That it’s coming.
I love that Henry Ford quote + I wrote an exercise for you to detox what you think you can’t have + start declaring what you actually desire.
I wrote this I CAN + I CAN’T Worksheet. It’s a place for you to actually write out the fear-based beliefs of what you think you can’t have. You have to detox it. Every belief that you are keeping tight to the chest is keeping you stuck. It’s making tears leak out of your body.
Get it out.
Then tell us what you CAN be/do/have.
Getting clear. Speaking your truth. Claiming your desire. It’s the first step to getting it.
In big love + bold laughter,
JESS
P.S. What did you share as an I CAN? Will you share in our Facebook sisterhood SOULSPEAK?
