I raise up my voice—not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard…we cannot succeed when half of us are held back.” ―Malala Yousafzai
Women are socialized to play nice and to be quiet. There’s a not-so-subtle message that if you speak up and ask for what you need and want, you are too much. We learn to tone down our voices and our needs. We learn to be quiet about our proudest accomplishments.
There is much to be uncovered when we find the power of our voice. To share in a room of other women who practice doing so can be profoundly healing and powerful.

This SoulSpeak is for you if:
We are super thrilled to announce our partnership with Bureau Studio to host this event. Is this space not GORGEOUS?
SoulSpeak is a carefully crafted, cozy environment where you can tell your story (or stories) and bear witness to a #tenderfierce community of women. It is a place to practice sharing your truth, being seen and heard, and bearing witness to the human spirit. It is not a place to practice fixing each other, but to deeply listen.
Bring an open heart and be prepared to laugh in uproarious laughter, pass the tissues, squeeze a hand and connect with a kindred spirit or two.
SoulSpeak is a two and a half hour event that allows two hours for storytelling and sharing and an opening and closing from the facilitators. You will share some of your truth, practice telling your truth, sometimes speaking to the road that you’ve already traveled, and sometimes telling the story that you are living in this moment.
Round I: Happy Hour Round : 45-60 minutes
We’ll start with one woman in the circle picking a story prompt (written for this very topic) from a bowl. You’ll have two minutes to share your story. When the timer goes off, your time for speaking has come to completion and you get to bear witness to the next story. You’ll pass the bowl to the next woman to tell a story in two minutes, and so on.
Round II: Diving Deep : 45-60 minutes
After a short break, we’ll split into two groups with a facilitator joining each smaller group. This time, you’ll be invited to either pick a prompt from the bowl OR to share a story that’s on your heart. Most women find that there is a story that wants to be told- a story from their past, their present, or a story that they are deeply desiring to live into. All of our stories need to be held. Each participant will have three minutes to share their story.

Meet Your Facilitators

Jessica Leigh Lyons
Jessica Leigh Lyons is a maven of possibility, coach, and expert facilitator. She created SoulSpeak when she found it near impossible to speak about your story from the messy middle. She wanted courageous spaces of women REALLY telling it like it is: the glorious, the challenging, and the confusing. As a teacher in a former life, she craves community and believes in the healing practice of speaking our truth to own our power.
