“I’m drawn to the Jewish notion of the soul, nephesh, which is not something preexistent but emergent—forming in and through physicality and relational experience. This suggests that we need our bodies to claim our souls. The body is where every virtue lives or dies, but more: our bodies are access points to mystery.” – Krista Tippett
This concept that our bodies are the gateways to our souls deeply resonates. Through my work with folks to discover their internal compass, I see them relearn what the data their bodies are sending them actually means. It’s a powerful reawakening. One client started realizing that when her truth came out, she felt waves of heat. She started sweating. Often, folks will experience chills or tingles throughout their body. Our bodies are not just here for eating and sleeping. They hold signs and doorways with which we get to hear our souls. Our work is to listen.
These Soulful Sunday blogs go out weekly on Sundays to be used as a place to step back from the hustle and bustle and explore what your soul might be saying to you. Some folks use these as journal prompts and let loose amidst pages. Some folks bring them to the kitchen table and jam over coffee. Do you, boo.
