“Each one has a name from birth but must learn to baptize his life with the word he has chosen to give meaning to that life.” – Paulo Coelho
Remember the power of using the words, “I am.” In his book The Fifth Mountain, Paulo Coelho tells the story of Elijah. In it, he meets a character who declares, I am Ackbar. The power of that sentence actually leads to the rebuilding of the city after it has been destroyed in a battle. The rest of the inhabitants, as they rebuild, rebaptize themselves. They declare to the residents who they are amidst the ruin. We forget, in our moments of discouragement or fear, that we are still more than what is physically present. When we are imagining or building, we must remember that our words matter. We are the melding of our minds, our bodies, AND our hearts. We are powerful beings. You get to declare today: I am powerful. I am presence. I am love. I am witness. I am holy. I am whole. I am beauty. I am community. I am.
